Stage 1 Remap

Your car is being held back — on purpose. Manufacturers limit boost pressure, fuel rail pressure, torque output, injection timing, and throttle response to meet emissions targets, stretch service intervals, and protect sales of higher-spec models. The performance was always there. It just wasn’t unlocked.

A Stage 1 remap changes that. We read your factory calibration file, rebuild it around your car’s actual live data and write it back. The result is more power, stronger torque, sharper throttle response, and better fuel efficiency. No parts. No hardware. Just the performance your engine was always capable of.

Every map we build is safe and calibrated within your engine’s hardware limits — we’re not chasing numbers at the expense of reliability. That said, if you want a more aggressive calibration and you’re looking to extract every bit of performance your standard hardware can give, just let us know. We can adjust the approach to suit what you’re actually after.

Every job starts with a full diagnostic scan. If there are active fault codes or signs of mechanical issues — worn injectors, a tired turbo, timing chain symptoms — we flag it before tuning, not after.

Before any changes are made, we store a full copy of your ECU’s original file. If you ever sell the car, want to return to stock for a dealer visit, or simply change your mind, we can reload the original map at any time. There is no time limit on this — your file stays on our system indefinitely.

Figures are typical for a healthy engine on stock hardware. Results vary with engine condition, fuel quality, and ambient temperature. Every remap is verified with live data logging.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, ECU remapping is legal in the UK. However, the vehicle must remain roadworthy and compliant with MOT emissions requirements. Any modifications should also be declared to your insurance provider.

Yes. A professional remap always includes saving the original factory ECU software. The vehicle can be returned to stock at any time if required, for example before selling the car or returning a lease vehicle.

Not necessarily. Under normal driving conditions, many vehicles see equal or slightly improved fuel economy due to improved torque and efficiency. Fuel consumption will increase only if the additional power is used frequently.

It can be, provided the vehicle is mechanically sound. This is why pre-remap diagnostics are essential. A well-maintained high-mileage engine can safely benefit from a conservative Stage 1 ECU remap.

A properly tuned Stage 1 ECU remap should not cause MOT issues, as long as emissions systems remain intact and the vehicle passes emissions testing. Poor-quality remaps or removal of emissions equipment can lead to MOT failure.

Most Stage 1 ECU remaps take between 1-3 hours, depending on the vehicle and ECU type. Some models may take longer if bench or boot-mode access is required.

A custom ECU remap is generally superior to a tuning box. Remapping directly adjusts multiple engine parameters in a controlled way, whereas tuning boxes typically manipulate limited sensor signals and offer less precise control.
